White fused alumina: features and application

White fused alumina is a high-grade abrasive material of grades 22A, 23A, 24A, 25A. It is made from pure alumina. Among all types of electrocorundum has the lowest concentration of third-party impurities, at least 99% consists of aluminum oxide (Al2O3).

White electrocorundum refers to refractory materials. It has increased hardness and fire resistance, good cutting ability. Depending on the grain size, different types are industrially produced:
  • micro-grinding powder for particularly fine surface treatment, production of grinding pastes, grain size from F230 to F1200;
  • shlif-powder, grain size according to FEPA: from F220 to F100 (from 53 to 212 microns);
  • shlif-grain with grain size from F90 to F16 (from 150 to 2000 microns);
  • spherocorundum, etc .

Use of white fused alumina

White fused alumina is used in surface treatment of various materials, in foundry production. It is one of the best abrasives for processing (polishing, grinding, cleaning) steels, including refractory, corrax stainless steel, leather, glass, wood.

Main fields of use:

  • production of grinding machines, abrasive wheels, grinding and polishing pastes;
  • as a working abrasive material for sandblasting;
  • as a filler for ceramic products;
  • in the foundry for the manufacture of molds, surfacing of non-stick coating of the working surfaces of molds;
  • manufacture of tools for processing hardened steels, fine-tuning high-precision parts for watches, etc.
Due to the fragility of the material, during the treatment of surfaces with electrocorundum white, the grinding ability of the abrasive is self-healing. The spent parts are chipped off, new sharp edges appear under them. White fused alumina can be repeatedly used in sandblasting. Abrasive tools, as they are erased, do not lose their effectiveness when grinding, sharpening metals.
